Before 3-point standardization, the following hitches existed: Ford, Ferguson, some Oliver, some Minnie Mo, and some Massey Harris tractors used what is now Cat. I. Deere used what has become Cat. II. Case had the Eagle Hitch, which was a true three-point, but not of the same design as, and not intended to be compatible with, the Ferguson system.
AC used the snap-coupler system, which was an entirely different (and some say better, as far as weight distribution and draft control) system than three point. IH had the 2-point fast hitch, also a different concept from 3-point. Both AC and IH eventually came out with adapters to make their propietary systems compatible with 3-point, and then along with Case, dropped the propietary hitches altogether in favor of 3-point.
