I'm still working on this Belarus 825 Starting problem.

The 825 still will not start and I'm hoping someone can give me a clue on what to do next.

This tractor was running in the Fall. I found that the relay had blown a fuse. I replaced and cleaned everything up (Battery terminal, copper connections, ground switch connections, etc.) and tried it. The voltage at the Old selonoid was 12V and jumped to 24V when the ignition switch is turned. Since there was absolutely no action or sound or any attempt to engage the starter I figured the selonoid needed to be replaced. So I ordered a new one.

I installed and tried - Same thing. Next, I load tested the batteries and found that the left battery (as you sit in the driver's seat) did not hold the load. I replaced that. Made sure both batteries were fully charged and tried.

There was 28 - 29 Volts at the selonoid but still absolutely not a click or any attempt to engage. One guy at the auto parts suggested "it's going directly to ground" but didn't elaborate.

I'm beginning to think I may have it wired incorrectly at the relay although I was careful to replace that with the original configuration.

Is there anything anyone can suggest? I've been working on this allllll winter.

As for the relay wiring, there are 4 connections on the right and 3 on the left as you look down from the seat facing the rear window.

Here's my layout:

Left closest to seat: Negative Battery terminal from right battery (facing rear window)
Left Small middle terminal : Green
Left Fuse terminal : Lavender

Right closest to seat: To Positive left (facing rear window) battery terminal
Right combo connection: Orange
Right Small standalone terminal: Red
Right Fused Terminal: White

The relay clicks and, as I mentioned, there is 24V at the selonoid. I measure accross the two large selonoid connectors and get 24V (28 Actual) when key is turned. I also get 24V from small terminal on selonoid and ground when key is turned.

Anything you can suggest would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thank You

Bryan

Today's Featured Article - Third Brush Generators - by Chris Pratt. While I love straightening sheet metal, cleaning, and painting old tractors, I use every excuse to avoid working on the on the electrics. I find the whole process sheer mystery. I have picked up and attempted to read every auto and farm electrics book with no improvement in the situation. They all seem to start with a chapter entitled "Theory of Electricity". After a few paragraphs I usually close the book and go back to banging out dents. A good friend and I were recently discussing our tractor electrical systems when he stated "I figure it all comes back to applying Ohms Law". At this point ... [Read Article]
