I think if we took a vote on it around the board, it would be a vibration thing. And diesel engines have plenty of that. Everything has a resonant frequency in which it will oscillate or vibrate. Probably vibrates at the rpm that you most favor. My advice would be to try a longer line which would have a different oscillating frequency or try dampening the original with some quick and easy fix, like,tape a piece of metal to it. Or tape or shrink boot. It's not a stress crack or it would crack in a bend. Tubing is generally made out of low carbon steel in an annealed condition so heating it again won't help, it's as soft and relaxed as it can get. It cracks at the fittings.
