We have a 31 foot single chain spike tooth hay escalator that I am working to convert to a wood conveyor.I have removed 12 feet out of it.I am planning to remove the small rails that the bales used to slide on to replace it with 3/4 plywood.Also planning to remove every second pair of spikes and weld slats to the ones inbetween giving it 34 inches between slats.Also planning to hook up a hydraulic motor to run it that we already have and add a shoot to the bottom to catch the blocks and hopefully slide them onto the escalotor without a big smash effect.If it works I am planning to use it to catch the blocks dropping from the saw gear and carrying them up to drop them in the dump truck.The sides will also need to be closed in.Not sure how I will keep the chain running straight underneath yet,with slats on the chain,the original allignment sections won't be able to work.Has anyone here ever done such a thing before?Will it actually work???
