Well, it actually started late new years eve..but that seems like a technicality to me.
30 hours after it started here, its stopped...average accumulation seems to be in the neighborhood of 20 inches. However, its hard to tell, as the snow was accompanied by 70mph winds. So, about half my driveway is nearly bare with just a skiff of snow covering it. My mailbox and garbage box, however, are under a highway-plow-created snowdrift...the highway in question is still only a lane wide, and covered in at least 6" of snow.
In other news, I'm offering a reward for the safe retrieval of either of my two Impalas. Both were last seen in my driveway, however, I woke up this morning to Impala-shaped snowdrifts and no more car! Seriously though...the hood on my 9C1 Pursuit 'Pala is literally covered. The drift is half-way up the side window. So plowed public road or not, I couldn't get out even if I wanted to.
When I bought my Super-C from Sam, I did so because I was getting sick of shoveling, and a new walk-behind snowblower cost the same as a Super-C, and so far as I know, a Snowblower won't haul a trailer or mow my field. I decided that I was going to store it in the garage so I didn't have to worry about such things as iced up seat, peddles, linkages, etc. I also figured it would save me having to clean off the tractor before I plowed the driveway. All very logical points, I reckon.
What I didn't count on, however, was having to shovel out my snowplow even while parked IN the garage. The snowdrift, when I last checked, had covered the handle and lock hasp..both of which are encroaching on chest level on me, and I'm a bit better than 6'.
I've been rather sick today, and thus, haven't got outside to examine the scenery, nor have I got any pictures. However, I plan to do that tomorrow when I actually get around to plowing us out!
