: : I'm with you. I am new to this myself. This site is helpful, but is there a book that has basic implement instruction dos and don'ts.
: >> I understand your problem, and wish I had a ready answer for you. The best advise I have is for you to locate a copy of "The Operation, Care and Repair of Farm Machinery" published in several editions by John Deere from the mid thirties to at least the late sixties. The book was available to schools & vocational organizations as a textbook. Most of the info contained can pertain to any brand, and I would think an edition from the mid-fifties on would be very helpful to rookies. They are neat books to have, too.

I wonder if Bob Bondurant would consider doing a course on "Tractor Driving For Fun & Profit." I remember catching fenceposts and chain link as well as a county truck while I was trying to figure out the various brakes and mounted implements. This was all not too long ago. This year I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and plow my own field. (silent prayer) I've allways been fortunate in that it was someone elses equipment, golf course, hay, etc. Now that it's my land, tractors, insurance and stuff I think I'll be a little more careful. Experience is a good but demanding teacher. I think I'll try to find one of those manuals.... Jump in and stay off the ROPS! Me
