The best advise I have is for you to locate a copy of "The Operation, Care and Repair of Farm Machinery" published in several editions by John Deere from the mid thirties to at least the late sixties. The book was available to schools & vocational organizations as a textbook. Most of the info contained can pertain to any brand, and I would think an edition from the mid-fifties on would be very helpful to rookies. They are neat books to have, too.
