I find it funny that everyone has an opinion on the subject NOW. But for the past 8 years we as a country went down about 6 trillion dollars. Never heard a peep about that and still don't. Heck there's 2 trillion missing from the treasury and no questions asked. Only opinion I have is if we're going deeper in debt I'm happy to see it used here at home instead of across the big pond where most of our treasure is now. When the Iraq war was started if there had been a war tax applied to every working person in our country to pay for the war the troops would have been home 4 years ago. So far as unions, I'm neither for or against them. They negotiate their wages just like the CEO's do. CEO's pay went from 200 times what the normal working person makes in 2000 to 600 times the average wage person by 2002. No one complained about that either and many were all for it. The car companies were still making profits until gas went to 4 bucks a gallon. That left no money to but cars or anything else. The foreign auto makers in this country get money for each car they produce here in our country from us good old tax payers. What the heck is the difference in the end. All we can hope for now is this mess gets under control fast and get the country back on track. When people have a job they consume. When they don't have a job they consume less with our tax money.
