Crispy burnt tractors... worth fixing??? Or parts?

I have seen a lot of burned up tractors and parts lately on the net and in local auctions. Has anyone anything to share about rebuilding a crispy tractor or using parts from one?
Would the castings from a tractor that was so hot the axles collapsed in the heat of the fire have any value to reuse? Or are they now scrap metal and art?
I used to get involved in wreck rebuilding, and I remember being told never to touch burned parts because they wouldn't hold paint. I know the sheetmetal was near impossible to work out dents in and such as it was so weakened..
I saw a loader frame at a recent auction that got so hot that it had swelled up one enclosed area in the frame like a balloon.. pretty impressive, but I don't think I'd want to lift any weight with it..
