The other day while I was at work my Dad decided to start combining corn, in the process he blew one of the lines for the hydro-stat on my combine. So he replaced the line, and then filled the hydraulics on the machine - not the transmission reservoir- with Dexron III/Mercon ATF. On the up side even after running it for 2 hours with oil barfing out the breather cap on the hydraulics and the transmission 6 gallons low he didn't do any immediate damage. The thing I was wondering was should I worry about the ATF in the hydraulic system? I have been using John Deere hy-trans in they hydraulic system up until now and I don't know if the ATF will affect it at all. If it makes a difference the machine is a New Holland TR70.
