I've had my little tractor for about 5 years. There was always a little black stuff in the radiator like suit. The last few months, there has been quite a bit of oil in the water and I couldn't tighten the radiator cap because it would build up pressure and leak, and it seemed to be getting week. Had to move some water tanks and round bales yesterday and today and was going to take it to the shop tomorrow to have the head gasket that I've had hanging on the wall for the last 3 years waiting on some spare time. This morning when I went to start it, it started real hard and blew some nasty stuff out the exhaust. When I moved the stuff I needed today, I had the feeling that it wouldn't run the 6 miles to the shop tomorrow, so decided to try it myself. I'd done a few head gaskets on VW's over the years, but the tractor had me a little intimidated. Figured if I couldn't fix it, I'd have the shop come pick it up. Wish the VW's had been that easy. I put the tractor in the barn and 3 hours later had a new machine. I guess the gasket had been bad when I bought it and I thought it was running normal. No smoke, runs and sounds completely different, just can't wait to get it on the road and see what it's like. Think I'll treat myself to a beer or 6 now.
