I'm going to be ignorant to the original question too, actually, (never heard of that interchange between those 2 barrels either) never was impressed by any of those SKS's and cheap variants, as well as some other firearms of foreign manufacture, like some foreign made M1A's (the M14 w/no selector)Probably can't beat the price on em, so some will look past the quality, and not knocking anyone for it, better quality sure comes at a price when dealing in firearms.
The thing that caught my attention was the magazine capacity, 10 rounds ? I'm hoping no one who deer hunts actually needs that capacity to take one ! :-), NYS allows 5 rounds, and I believe the magazine must not be capable of holding any more, don't think a modified one or one that has been stopped up to hold less is legal, must be a legit 5 round magazine. A lot of these type of regulations, if violated could result in the seizure of youre rifle, vehicle and anything associated with you hunting, definitely so if caught poaching. I also believe you cannot possess a larger mag while hunting, say like in your bag or pack as a spare. I still use an M1A for deer, and the 5 round mag, is so short nothing to grab onto and the loading pattern, first round on top is on the opposite side, which is annoying for a reason I forget, as opposed to the 20 round mag. Most times 1 round does the job, but I've hastily taken shots on occasion and have to use a 2nd one, not so lately, but does happen every so often, really have to concentrate, sometimes that deer can distract a person a bit.
