I agree 100%. Even if a particular machine is way beyond repair or restoration, it will still have some useable parts, even if the only part you can salvage is a hunk of iron that you can use for future welding projects.
The tractor spitting stands that I built have iron from a JD 227 picker, and iron from an Allis 220 disk.
