Well in 1990 to stop a takeover threat Cummins begged Ford,Tennneco,and Kubota to buy shares and promise not to sell for 5 years.Ford bought 10% with options for another 10%,teneco bought 10%,Kubota bought 5%,Miller family kept 4% and employes had 10%which 40% is controlling so the compay could not be taken over(only if Oliver had down this)anyway agai this is 1990 ot the 80s a couple years ago ford did buy the controllig interest of Cummins I have not found my book on it yet.
