Here are the pics. We are cutting these oats for a neighbor and I dont know when he put them in. We will cut our own oats tomorrow and they were planted on may 8 which is over a month late and they are almost as weedy as these were. We got one field done today, must have been 15 acres and we left maybe 3 or 4 because of the weeds and we have a 5 acre field to go and I dont think we will get half of them but we will try. I didnt have any trouble to speak of and since we skipped the worst of the weeds the oats looked pretty fair in the wagon. The ole 45 did rumble a few times today.

There they are. Its a little hard to get excited about diving into that. He didnt do anything wrong with the oats, just alot of weeds and grass came in.

A 45 combine really isnt overpowered in this situation. A good 12-A or 30 combine would do well in these weeds. Now those combines would eat those weeds right up.

The first couple of hoppers all this stuff made me nervous but pretty soon I was crusing along in second gear with out a care in the world, well almost.

There's that 403 folowing me around again. That is alot more of a combine than my little 45 but he had a fair amount of trouble with slugging the platform auger and then having to dig it out. Looked like a hot job.

Looks like someone mowed a yard. The oats yielded far better than expected. The rest will be cut and baled.

Today's Featured Article - The Day Mom Drove the 8N - by Brian Browning. My Dad was wanting to put in a garden but couldn't operate the 8N and handle the old horse drawn plow he had found and rigged up to use with the tractor. Well, he decided to go get Mom out of the house and have her drive the tractor while he walked behind the plow. You got to understand that while my Mom is a hard worker who will always help whenever she can... she had never operated farm machinery before that day. Dad got her out there, explained how the clutch was the same as in our o ... [Read Article]
