We have installed a new voltage regulator, ignition coil, condenser, and breaker points, after our girl lost her spark. Now the same problem is occurring after 1 hour of purring down the road! The geneator is not up to snuff as far as charging is concerned, but there is still no spark with the battery fully recharged.Reading the post from Bruce (VA) on 07-12-2008 gave some insight into the workings of Mr.Ohms, but still no spark. The 6 volt coil ( both old & new) are showing .8ohms of resistance, with the resistor coming in at 2.2 ohms. So if I read correctly, I take the generator output of 6.8 volts, divide by the 3.0 ohms total ( 2.2 + .8 ) and get 2.3 amps. Less than the 3.5 max as recommended. Any suggestions? Bought a new wiring harness but not installed yet. Could we be having a wire failure somewhere? Winter is coming soon up here in the cold north and wouldn"t mind getting the old girl fired up before putting her to bed. Also the right hand axle assembly is beating up on the lower right post of the distributor cap. The flexing of the axle is breaking that post of the cap when the old girl his a pot hole. Is this a normal happening or are our potholes too big! cheers don
