My bank failed in the 80's. Bank was visited by FDIC at closing time on Friday. The bank was reopened Monday morning with new owners{large bank headquartered in KC MO. My accounts were presented to me and I was sign if it was correct and then my money was available to me. I could have it Monday if I just wanted my money.but I had a loan with the Bank. I had a meeting Tuesday and was told to clean out my lock box and sign all my belongings were there. I then was able to take out a new lock box with the new bank. They refused to continue my loan at my old rate. They would prefer I paid it off. New savings and loan told me to send more loans like mine because I had it half paid for. We had a small rural farm bank ,the new bank kept all cd's and auto loans. Housing and farm loans were not renewed for the most part.
