I would suspect that the original was 20 amps. Unless you've got a bunch of lights added to the tractor you don't need more than that. All the same, the 35 amp won't hurt anything so long as it fits. I generally install a 63 amp Delco 10si on my tractors when the original fails. I don't think the 10si will fit on your tractor due to it's body size though... so if the 35 amp will fit, stick it on there. The only other thing I might do is upgrade the Bat wire from the alt to the starter terminal if it isn't 10ga or larger already. It should be tho...
