I have had the 8N for 12 yrs,but the 640 & 841 are NEW to me. I am trying to simiplify my lubrication requirements and have reviewed several manuals (old oil #'s) with some confusion. I am particular to find the BEST oil for these older tractors. Location is NW INDIANA and are driven mostly in summer but possibly in winter for snow removal.I have several gallons of FORD oil # M 2C41-A & M-2C53-A That I can use but want to simiply my inventory. The 8N now has M-2C134-d in HYD & TRAN *** OK? THE engine has MOBIL ONE 10w30 with good results in reducing comsumption and carbon fowling. *** Any better suggestion? The 640 hyd per book is M-4864-A. Suggest new#*** ? The rear axle/Tran is SAE 80w, Other suggest#***? ENG.Suggest is SAE 30W summer, SAE 10W Winter. Multi grade also??? The 841 has suggest Hyd M-4864-A or M2C41,or whats best???*** Rear Axle/ tran same as 640 ,BUT this tractor has a SHERMAN Tran also, does this change anything? ENG has book Rec of SAE 20W summer amd SAE 10-10W winter. SEEMS TOO light of oil????*** this worries me? LAST ,But important is PWR Steer Pump ,Sug is M-2C41 or ATF. I believe their are several FORD ATF's???*** any suggestion so I don't ruin hyd seals??? I am asking for a lot of info and I am grateful for all your suggestions based on experience and knowledge of FORD req. I'm near a TSC as well as auto and a MOBIL Dist. MANY THANKS PHIL
