I'd get rid of the attitude and quit calling cops stupid, for one thing. He may have had a case. Anyway, there's an element called common courtesy.
The simple fact is, there are too many farmers who think they own the road and if anyone is inconvenienced it's their problem.
I grew up on a farm and I farmed myself for nine years, so I have no inclination to pick on farmers, per se. That being said, there are few things more infuriating than to be stuck behind a tractor with duals, covering the entire road, with the driver sitting in the cab totally oblivious as to the fact that there's traffic built up behind him. Then when he does wake up and pull over, he flips off the cars behind as if he were the one that was inconvenienced. What if one of the vehicles was an emergency vehicle?
An interesting thought is to enact legislation requiring farmers to purchase over-width permits to move machinery down public roads, the same as the trucking industry. Now, no politician in his right mind would touch that, but it's an interesting thought.
