Kjell, There are two possibilities where the problems are with the timeing of your engine. The easy one is, remove the plug from the left hand side of the clutch houseing, turn the engine until you see a mark on the flywheel that is 25BTDC (before top dead center, look on the rear injection pump flange, there should be a mark that lines up with a pointer on the front of the injection pump. If there is no mark, turn the engine until the 25 BTDC mark appears again and recheck. The mark should line up with the pointer. If not move the pump around on the slotted holes until it does. On the earlier BMC Diesels, the valve timing was also adjustable. This could have moved. If the tractor had got stuck valves when you first started it, a piston could have struck and bent a valve. Try removing the valve cover and see if all the valves go up and down or if some have a large clearance. We have had a 10/60 which mis fired and smoked. This cleared when the tractor was worked hard for a period and was due to carbon building up on the inlet valves causing them to stick. What are you calling the choke? Are you sure you have a 4/60? These came out in 1960 and have a Simms Minimec pump. regards Brian
