The land around me that has been bean and corn rotation for the last 20+, is going into spring wheat as of yesterday. That is gonna look nice. Me? I still am restricted to my 23 tillable, 7.8 in rye, 7.2 beans, and the rest in corn. I am really stuggling what to do with that 12 acres I could rent. It needs so much lime and fertilizer, and if it doesnt rain alot, I wont get a crop, soil service said stay away from beans in it. Maybe I am best letting it sit and put rye or wheat in it in the fall, and just apply the lime now and let it start working as some stated. It is very light soil. Otherwise I am thinking maybe sorghrom(sp?) or something I can seed now and bale up as beef cow hay later. Next fall I can start tossing some chicken poop on it and maybe it'll be suitable for corn the following year of two. Kinda wish now I would have put the whole 40 acres in rye last fall. $7/bushel. Coulda, shoulda, woulda!
