I agree with you, Case!
I told Dad I'd vote for an Islamic Communist if I thought they had a reasonable chance of reigning in government spending.
Just like a household can't keep spending more than they make, our government CAN'T keep spending more than it takes in. Most all the politicians (on either side) have a vested interest in promising more because it makes them look good - but it is with OUR MONEY that they are making all those grand promises!!
So far, NEITHER PARTY has been able to even balance the budget! Much less start working on the national debt!
And you KNOW who is going to wind up paying all the debt with the interest at some point, anyway!
Aside from that, to me, our economy is like the ripples on a pond. Millions of factors all come to bear to create the current state. Who is president or who's in control of congress has some effect on the economy, but there are a thousand other factors that are also interrelated! Many much more strongly!
Are high corn or wheat prices good or bad? Depends on if you are buying or selling! Same for oil! Same for timber! Same for finding a job (depending on if you are a business owner looking for help or someone looking for a job)!
The underlying laws of supply and demand are VASTLY more in control of any of those prices than the politicians are...
Just my .011223 cents worth (2 pennies adjusted for inflation! ha), Howard
