If you watched them closely, they next time you split your tractor you can do it yourself. I am not a mechanic and did not even farm until I was 52 and started dabbeling with old tractors and farming. Have split a few old Cases to do clutches and rear mains or transmission seals since then. Last summer I was mowing my road bank with my 300 case. All Of a sudden I had no clutch. It was completely gone. This happened right in front of my neighbors house and he was watching. I told him clutches go gradually, not just all of a sudden in one second. Besides, I had put in new clutch plates (2 in series) just last year when I bought the old girl and got it going after setting 15 years. The clutches were rusted together and the tractor would hardly come apart. Well anyway, I took it straight back to my shop and split it again---- had it seperated in one hour. When I had split it before I had not noticed the (Fork) proper term? bolt had rusted and just broke into and would not release the clutch. I dug through my parts drawers and found a New old stock fork and bolted it in. Ond and one half hours later I was back in front of my neighbors house mowing again. He asked me what was wrong with my tractor. I told him I just had to split it and fix the clutch. He just shook his head. Did not believe a word of my clutch story.
