It could possibly be the flex ring in the pump that the others are refering to, but most of the time that will plug the return fitting on the pump. You could remove this and check to see if it is plugged to see if it has failed. If it has have your pump repaired as this could lead to a seizure if let go too long. Another problem could be that the metering valve is stuck. This will make the engine do exactly what you are stating. No acceleration. This is caused by either dirt or water in the slightest amounts. Again the pump will need overhauled to clean all the debris out. Good luck!
