However you should remember that if the tractor is in NCIC as stolen, most likely the law enforcement agency will impound the tractor and you will lose it.
If you are suspicious that the tractor might be stolen, there must be a reason or reasons. Was the price ridiculously low, or did the sellers appear real shady? If the tractor IS a stolen, then you always run the risk that it will be taken away from you. But it is unlikely that you could be convicted of possession of stolen property unless there is evidence that you KNEW it was stolen (at least in my state!!!). If it is a stolen tractor, I sure would not hold my breath waiting to get my money back from the seller...even if they were convicted of stealing it. So you run some risk in checking the tractor with law enforcement. You could lose all your investment.
But if you are concerned, having it checked is the right thing to do. Let your conscience be your guide. Good luck!
