Forgot to mention that an expired plate over here is usually not that big of a deal, as long as you have a valid insurance card and your policy is current, otherwise without the insurance you have to turn in the plates immediately, if you don't they used to fine you per day without insurance, something like this happened to me a few years ago while I was away, I did not have to pay a fine, but they would not allow me to re-register the vehicle for a specified period of time. It's just best to stay up on these things and have your registration/insurance card/drivers license at arms length in every vehicle you own. Personally I hate leaving anything visible to draw attention to the law enforcement people, all those little things like lights and such, inspection sticker, better to keep it legit, if you don't it just becomes a hassle, sometimes costly too.
