Things appear to be getting worse, underhanded things have been going on at auctions for years, but latley auctions have been requiring more and more security. People steal and destroy so much. They monkey with things like fuel shutoffs, plug wires, distributer caps, anything to make something appear not to work so they can get something for nothing. There is a farm equipment dealer who has consignment auctions twice a year here, and he has been getting tens of thousands of dollars worth of stuff stolen off their lot, and he now hires a lot of security for during the auction, its the only way to prevent people from putting things in their trucks that they hadn't bought. Even with the security, he is still losing some stuff and has his full time mechanics there to check stuff over and get all the tractors running before they sell them, and people purposly kill the batteries and everything else on them so they won't start. I was at an auction awhile ago, and was looking over an Allis Chalmers 190 and a fellow come along and told me it had been in a flood, the engine was stuck and it was junk, well, guess who was bidding on it come auction time?, the guy had told a complete lie, it was a running tractor and he bought it. I have a very hard time trusting anyone outside my family, so many liars and cheaters out there who don't seem to care who they rip off as long as they benefit. Even a childhood friend of mine took something from my place awhile ago that while it isn't the end of the world or a friendship breaker, it sure did surprise me that he'd do such a thing. I'd known him my whole life and never thought he'd take anything from me.
On CNN tonight they were showing donations to the Salvation Army getting stolen left and right in some city. Some people were dropping things off, and others would come along and load up everything they wanted and take it. They caught some of them on camera and interviewed a couple of them, and they were mostly embarassed, but pretty much said since that stuff was there they might as well take it since someone else problably would and not all of them looked poor. I am wondering what the future is going to be like, although maybe its not getting worse at all since there has been scumbags all throughout history, but it seems like in the last few years people have been getting worse, maybe its because religion is becomming less and less important in peoples lives?. Just seems like the majority of people can't be trusted at all.
