Start with 3 quarts and the new filter. Start and run it. let it sit about 20 minutes and recheck and top it off with oil and count how many you put in it, that will be how much it should hold.
Cheveron Delo 400 15w40 will work fine. Shell Rotella T 15w40 will work fine. Any Fleet diesel engine oil of 15w40 will work.
