You said fuel was leaking to the ground. This must have been from the sediment bowl gasket or a fitting on the sediment bowl. One of the basic principles of physics is evaporation removes heat. Gasoline evaporates very fast. A breeze, or air from the engine fan over a cold engine increases the rate of evaporation. The evaporating fuel on the bowl can remove enough heat to reach 32 degrees or lower. The evaporation princpile is how refrigeration and air conditioning works.
