Dunno what's going on with regasrd to the price difference between your quote and bill, but I can tell you that the bill is not out of line for what a service call would cost here. We simply don't get service calls out here to fix tires, from any of the shops in town. I'll take a tire in when I'm going in anyway, or I'll fix it myself. You could figure on close to 3 hours travel time for the truck on that trip, total, and if it's a boom truck like most of them run here, I'd want 70 bucks an hour for the truck if it was mine... Tires and service calls are just plain expensive now. Dunno what else to tell you.
I also have one dealer who I deal with occassionally who will quote me one price on tires, and then bill me another price... However, if I call him and point that fact out, he backs down... but if you don't watch the bugger, he'll take the money. I don't know if it's a haphazard way he has, or if it's a deliberate act to get a little more. He is somewhat absent minded... He's the sort that if I ask for a price quote on something, he takes a percentage off of list, but otherwise if I just orde without pricing, I get list price.... and I think when he bills the tires out that he's quoted me on, he bills the list price. For the most part now I deal with another shop because they give me better prices without having to ask and chase around afterwards...
