Bill, if you are just starting the harvest there could be rust on the header causing friction that inhibits the beans from freely moving to the feeder house. As you run the machine this should improve as the surface gets slicker. If the beans are bunching against the auger but will not feed toward the center, the edge of the flighting could be worn or radiused excessively. This is a very subtle problem but one that heavily impacts the operation of the header. Look at the flighting and closely observe the leading side that comes in contact with the crop. Now look at the lagging edge, it will be more like the original shape that the leading edge had originally. This keen edge on the leading edge will bite into the crop and move it along thus reducing the bunching. If your leading edge is worn excessively, it can be ground to reestablish the original shape. You will need to fixture the auger to have a consistent uniform grinding. I hope that I have not confused you but I have difficulty explaining this situation. Good luck and post your results.
