Adjusting the clutch on an A is not a problem, and the service manual tells you to just tighten the three adjusters up evenly. What is evenly, I asked myself, so I set out to try to find a precise way to adjust the clutch. (Maybe I have too much free time) Anyway, I found that by using a click type torque wrench, the clutch can be evenly adjusted and works very smoothly when adjustment is complete. I cleaned the bolts, nuts and lubricated them lightly. Torqued them to ten pounds, then 15 pounds, then to 20 pounds, with the clutch engaged. Go around one more time. Loosen the nuts one half turn and then torque back to 20 fp. Then, loosen each nut just enough to align the cotter pin hole. Test the clutch by disengaging and re-engaging. It will probably be a little tight. Back off each nut one castellation and insert cotter pins. The clutch worked so smoothly that it worried me. Also, a clean snap upon engagement and disengagement. I has recently install all new clutch linings and wanted to make it work as smoothly as possible.
