My 950 (jd)starts down to 10 degrees above 0.(That's as low as it has been here in a while.) I know it's not a monster tractor (size of a 135 massey)but it serves my purpose well.I run 30wt.(per jd manual.)I have to use the preheater(glow plug)but it starts in about 5 seconds. However,I do keep up on service.I'm fortunate to have a gas station near by that sells diesel fuel.I guess when the diesels get old(high hours)you may have problems starting, but I've seen gas tractors that needed ether to start also.So i guess, that if newer/or fewer hours on them they will start easier. good luck.
