Two stroke or four? The new four strokers are very touchy because they are set at the factory so lean they barely run to be EPA compliant and they can not be adjusted. They don't like ethanol in their fuel or the slightest bit of water or sediment and their filters are rudimentary at best and hard to change. I have added RayCore filters to all our boats and have improved the reliability of our engines signifigantly. You might give it a dose of Sea Foam. I've not used it, but people here have said good things about it.
