I have done that as well in fact I have jump started a six volt with a twelve and six with a twenty four and twelve with twenty four. I am not going to say nothing will happen. I have never had a battery explode while jump starting but we take precaution. I know of four different explosions while jump starting. Three of them were jumping a twelve volt with a twelve volt. Two of the three they goofed up and hooked the cables backwards. The third one the key was left one when he jumped it. The only explosion that I know of when jumping a six with a twelve. The guy just knew because it was positive ground you had to cross the cables when you jump start. I am no expert just passing on some of my experiences.
