2085 gear oil?

I got myself a 1951 totally rebuilt te20 or so I was told. Rebuilt with a paint brush is more like it. So among other various repairs I decided to change the gear/hyd oil. I got a couple real stupid questions here. First I pulled the plug, and gave it about 2 hrs to let out 7-8 qts. And it took the whole 2 hrs. I'm thinking due to the non existant maintenance thats all that was in it(not much sleep the night before)This stuff was the weight of nothing I've ever seen before. Where I used to work we had some gear oils specially made, one of batches for cranes with leaking gearboxes.Basically it wasnt much different than moly grease, only a hair lighter...So I put in the 20 litre pale of esso65 knowing it needs that and more. I start to run it, it works beautifully but spewing oil out of axle seal. A gentleman from the forum here tells me to see if the level is just up to the lower hole in the side round plate. Let me mention when I would take a bolt out of any of those holes before, I thought they were blind holes, the oil being so thick wouldnt come out, but it now spued out. I took out about 10 qts, along with 5 I leaked, and what I got in there now mixed well together with a light greenish color and about a 140+ weight. All works well, so can I assume all is well. Shifts better than ever now...Second stupid is the small thin plastic cap , the one the size of an american nickel fell in. Now to say drain it wont help, cause I know it wont come out the hole. Do I play the wait and see on that one?Going back to the first issue the existing oil wasnt all that dirty now that I get to see it but for the life of me I dont know how it pumped. I do know one thing ,that when I put the modern day gear pump on the front for my homemade loder it would have starved and cavitated or busted a shaft trying to pump it...What was this stuff????????
