Many years ago I saw a documentary, (made by yuppies presumably :-) about an old-timer named Ben who ran a watermill powered machine shop in Vermont, showed him making a watering tub (could have made a fortune sellin em as jacuzzi's) and a logging sled. It was inspirational to me. Combine this with the Foxfire books and Eric Sloan and you end up with a movement. Heard this lady, an academic from Boston, on NPR the other day (the yuppie radio station :-) she had this great revelation about fixing things so she researched it and wrote a book about it. Then there were all of these call-ins from people relating their wonderful "fixing" experiences. It was quite annoying really, as if they had rediscovered something that was about to die unless they took it upon themselves to "fix" it. Fixing stuff is morally correct and the thing that is great about tractors is that the people who like them are fixers by nature, no matter what their background. Remember, Henry Ford and Harry Furgeson were both yuppies, not sure about John Deere though. All of my best to everyone who enjoys that wonderful aroma of old grease and damp dirt. Kim
