Earlier this week we recieved about 2.5" of rain early one morning from a significant thunderstorm.(West Texas) Next morning I looked out and saw water still standing and knew we had a good shower. However when I went out to the gauge, the silly thing was empty with just a trace of moisture in the bottom. This particular guage is setting on a post out in the open yard. It's one of those big jobbers from the JD dealership that I've used for the past 2 years. Figuring I must have sprung a leak, I examined it closer and found nothing. Filled it with water and it held fine for over 24 hours til I dumped it. Had two more showers since then and both registered just fine. Sitting there scratching my head I remembered about 30 years ago having a 20 gallon fish aquarium setting in front of a large window in the living room. We had a major thunderstorm that night and the next morining we found the aquarium empty with all the fish lying on top of the gravel. There were absolutely no signs of water any where. So where did the 20 gallons from the aquarium and 2.5" from the gauge go?? Common denominator was a major lightning storm. Any ideas or similar experiences? Thanks, Tom
