One reason might be ---When you buy a new truck it used to be that it came with a standard shift transmission. Years ago, if you wanted an automatic transmission you had to pay more because there were not that many sold. Today, the vehicle comes with a 4 or 5 speed standard shift, you want an automatic, you pay more and give back the standard shift. Check with the parts department and you will find that the "cluster gear" in the standard shift will cost about the same as most automatic transmissions. Just another way to pay more and get less.
