My 1st experience with the 8N was in about 58-59, I was so happy to get the 3 point hitch. After trying to turn and disc a 25 acre corn patch, I never complained about the Farmall again. The 8N was too big to garden with and to little to farm with. It would spin all the time when you got it in a pull, so I watered the tires and the thing died out then all the time. I went and traded for the old Farmall back. I was glad my brother could help me out with his JD, I just didn't like the popping. I never did any bushhogging or anything else except for that one crop. Some of these old tractors bring back such sweet memories, and some remind me of the most miserable spring and summers of my life. I finally got a MF35, I thought it looked kinda like the Ford only red. There wasn't any comparison. For its time I think the MF35 was the best tractor of that class you could have. You could get the big high performance Perkins diesel, and a live pto. At 8 to 10 cent a gallon for fuel you could even afford to plow your ma in law's garden.
