Drawing up a hog loading/ unloading facility for the county fair. What is the usual roof pitch used on Morton,FBI,Cleary, etc. buildings? Tenative plan is for 3 pens, side by side.10'wide and 30'deep with divider gates in each pen, so we can have 6 pens and be able to unload 3 trailers at a time. A chute at the back of the pens that will be used for check in, ear tagging and weighing and for routing the hogs into the barn.Trying to incorporate some of Dr. Temple Grandin's ideas on this as far as using dead heads in the chute, etc. Any suggestions appreciated. No matter how hard we try, there is always someone that thinks unloading takes too long.It seems like they(parents/ grandparents) settle down a bit if we can get the hogs unloaded.lol.Usually receive and process about 400 hogs in 6 hours.
