I am not an old Cat guy but I am getting old and I have a Cat. I would try filling the radiator and start the big engine and observe the water in the radiator for bubbles. If the water is spurting out the exhaust of the pony engine it sounds like you are getting compression into the common coolant system and the leak is a symptom of a problem in the big engine. If there is evidence of compression(bubbles) in the radiator it can come from only a few sources such as blown head gasket, pinhole in the sleeve, or a cracked head. Running hot on the big engine could give the same symptoms if it blew the pony head gasket. Post your findings so that all of us can learn more.
