Padraig: On several occasions I have gone out to a location to determine why a tractor would not run. I try to follow a basic stategy when I do this. 1. See if the engine will turn over 2. Check the wiring to see if your have power to the distributor and points, if not back track to find out where it stops (you can use either type of wire tester available for this) 3. Check the carburator for proper operation 4. Start engine Wiring problems can vary, but usally can be found if you start from your battery and work towards the points. Many times I have seen a bad connection cause problems. Take your time and start by cleaning each contact point until you have checked them all. Don't give up, remember you only need compression, carburation and ignition to fire a gas tractor up. Good Luck Chappy
