I'm partial to the Farmall. Something else might compare, but to me IH were better. In years gone by sometimes the friendship between farmers and suppliers were a hell of alot better than today. The old man who was our IH dealer was also one of the best men as far as service and being a neighbor. If your got sick or flooded or drought, or an early freeze he would carry you another year, and the whole country didn't know all your business. When it was time for more equipment, it didn't matter what kind or what the price or finance rate was we went back to a friend to purchase it. The farm quiz takes on a whole different meaning when you think back to the time you were using the equipment and not just what the equipment did.. Most of the time the actual implement was the most insignificant part of your operation. I still farm today and it's a different ball game. Once we farmed by our knowledge, luck and a man's word, ran our own business and went to church on Sunday. Seems like today we run everybody else's business, wait on another government check and a lower finance rate, and sit around cussing the preacher, and neighbors. So what's the best implement? Any kind before 1967, when the government went to full scale farming.
