Restoring a G John deere. The head is broken and the block has had water in the cylinders. To remove the block I had to disconnect the rods and remove the block as an assembley. The rods didn't have any bearings in them just alot of shims to adjust the clearance. This is a 1947 according to the serial No. This is the first time I've worked on an engine without rod bearings. Can any share some history on this engine and what is the best way to go with these rods.
