I have read the book and have had correspondence with Kurson. I am also following Chatterton and Kohler with thier Deep Sea Detectives show on the History Channel. What's even more interesting is the circle running torpedo theory has been questioned. It turns out that a Coast Guard DE Howard Crow was responsible for the sinking. Here is the link: http://www.uscg.mil/hq/g-cp/history/WEBCUTTERS/U869_Crow_Koiner.html Until these records were released it was assumed that U-869 was a victim of her own torpedo while attacking the USS Harpers ferry. Hard to believe that the only definitive way to identify the wreck was the metal tags on the box of spare electrical parts. Not to mention she should have been in Gibraltar, not New Jersey. Let's go Mountaineers, Aaron
