Lets look at a normal work week with out overtime.

40 hrs per week (8am -5 pm 1 hour lunch)
(2) hrs Down time for service, Fuel & breaks
-------------
38 hrs per week running
52.143 weeks per year (365/7)
-------------
1,981 hours per year
(76) vacation (10 working days per year)
(76) holiday (10 days per year)
-------------
1,829 hours
=============

Now we all realize that a farmer works a lot more then 8 hours per day in season. Out of the season a farmer might spend just a fraction of the time on a tractor. Also factor in multiple tractors per farm.

I guess a public works tractor in southern Florida with someone filling in for vacation with a little overtime would hit 2000 per year.

If you eliminated vacation added Saturday and added an hour per day you would hit the 2800 mark.
Now discount it by the growing season (mid March - Mid November) 8/12 you would get 1,868.
Discount it a little further because you don't use it as much as when you plant or harvest.

Would 1,000 be closer to reality ????

Lets hear from the guys in the business - How many hours do they actually put on a tractor per year??? High, low and average would be good???

Thanks
