Hi Phil, Man, some of these guys take trees awful serious. If it were me, I'd probably say "oh well". I've seen some pretty big scuffs from forwarders on red and rock maple. They seem to survive. Over time they recover. I would think that so long as the bark isn't damaged all the way around the circumference, it should be OK.... Ofcourse I'm no expert on saving trees either. Good luck. Rod
