RLG, I frequent a lot of sales and auctions. Two of the most often appearing items that crop up exhibiting damage and poor design are the cheap low end brush cutters and wing designed brush cutters. If you are satisfied with the 10 ft one you are now using I strongly suggest that you do not move up to the folding types and their inherent problems. You are already away from the cheap low cost "lost leader" units that are problematic. The devil you know may not be as bad as the devil you don't know. As for the round baler there are lots of good units on the market. As you probably know these balers fall in two design types, fixed or variable chamber. Each have their merits but when initial cost is not a factor, the fixed chamber ones will come out on top. The fixed chamber balers cost more at purchase but over the life of the baler IMHO they are cheaper to own. I like the simple design and reduced number of parts that employ what I believe was an original German design. Some of the balers that use this design are M&W, Clauss, Krone. If you service your own equipment , I would not be concerned if I did not have a dealer next door. Most dealers no longer stock any inventory and you still wait on UPS. Now days I get the same service and not leave home plus I usually save a few bucks. My neighbor stated he likes having the dealer in the area for his variable chamber brand name baler. I was over there working on it. He asked me what I do when I need parts for the fixed chamber less known brand that I have. I told him that I would phone the order in, UPS, etc., but since I have only required a couple of bearings (obtained wholesale locally) and some pickup teeth (Shoup Mfg) that was not a problem. I have had the baler(bought used) for five seasons and I bale for some of the neighbors as well as make hay for my cattle(106 head)
